I finally may (MAY!!) have bought a ticket for this year's Reading Festival. I say 'may' because after all the broken websites and at least three full purchase attempts with three different websites went horribly wrong at the eleventh hour, I've now got something even if it's just an email. So, all being well, me and young P. are going on an August bank holiday indie adventure. I am now completely bricking it, as all I know is that Reading makes T in the Park look posh, and I will be on my own with Emo Boy, who may look quite cool but is actually just a wee boy and may bottle out at any moment.

Seriously considering throwing money at the problem and securing Posh Camping - three days of losing our tent to the beerswilling drugged-out hordes may be too much.

Still! Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Fall Out Boy...heh. Every 17 year old boy's dream. *cough* It's funny that I should be going to rock festivals at this time in my life, but he's only likely to be up for this for about 1 more year. Also next year I would need to pay for his ticket.

In other news:

Am better, and have now discovered megaton of work delayed from last week's Mysterious Victorian Wasting Disease. Meh.

In 4 days' time, very old friend + daughter noe living in Chicago arrive for the weekend. House is a pit, and tomorrow the heating people are coming to put in pipes and boilers and suchlike.

We are (I am?) also secretly contemplating Grand House Plans, although these are likely to receive a slap in the face once we have a chat with the builder. Moar later.

Oh it's so nice to be BETTER!! *hugs the Internet*

The only camping I approve of includes room service and in-house movies. And a big bathtub.

Yaye for being better!

Heh. They do tipis as well but they're ridiculous money. We will settle for someone else putting the tent up. If I am going to be Indie Mum then I refuse to wallow in my own ordure.

Buy posh camping. Why? Because you can.
And I just lost 30 seconds choking over the thought of a Family Ticket to Reading.
Just make sure you see and hear Motorhead.
What, did you think someone who's planning to drive to Morocco with his son was going to pour cold water on your plan?

Hahahaha.

It's a bit of a risk but the music sounds excellent. Of course, I'll have my industrial strength ear protectors and my hot water bottle.

Wait what? Oooh, now there's an adventure. they're good things to have.

I think you should go for posh camping; I hear that they actually provide you with bottles of widdle to throw at the stage rather than you having to construct your own like the povs.

I flinch on your behalf at the Grand House Plans.

I'm nervous. However, Tangerine Fields will have blow-up mattresses, reasonable toilets and burly security. Also: Kings of Leon!

Not entirely sure how this sits with my fear of large crowds but we shall see.

House Plans. Yeah. We are having endless 'move or improve?' debates but next week a builder arrives for a long chat.

Buy posh camping - definitely. My son was at Reading two years ago, and Leeds Fest last year and everyone lived on nicked stuff, including food, cooking pans, tents. He took nothing with him but a toilet roll and a sleeping bag, but came home with a tent (there are hundreds of abandoned ones at the end of the fest - many of which go to Oxfam for relief).

You were lucky to get tickets. After ages hitting redial and refresh on phone and computer last night, we had to resort to Buy Now on eBay at a slightly hiked price.

Ah well. Yes. Bloody Seetickets. *cough* Complete mess. Ticketmaster seemed to sell out in seconds. We went a similar way, helped by the fact that he's free, so we only needed one.

Yeah, I think we're definitely going to go with the posh camping.

I think I would strongly recommend going for the posh camping option.

I went to Reading twice - either 1976 and 77 or 77 and 78.

Thin Lizzy, PATTI SMITH (the reason I went), original Ultravox - and I can't think of any more. Though clearly there were more than three bands playing...

I never went to festivals as a young person. I'm not sure they existed, although there must have been some antediluvian precursor to T in the Park.
