Belated Happy Birthday to
magic_at_mungos. Hope it was a good one!
Am spending my days in research libraries and my nights dreaming of silver and precious stones. And my lunchtimes in rock shops. Ahem.
Some raw materials, awaiting transformation:

These are amber chips; they're much yellower than they've come out in the photo. I've been looking at the trees on my way to school which are covered with yellow autumn leaves on bare, brown-grey branches, and I want to do something along those lines. I may also mix them with turquoise or apatite.

I'm not sure what this stone is, but I've had them for well over a year and I'm still playing with ideas of what to do with them. Each individual stone is like a mini seascape. I have a couple of concepts in development - a pendant made with leather cord and some added silverwork; and a long necklace with the stones set sparsely on silver chain.
I adore these dyed freshwater pearls. These are so simple that they just need stringing to make a double-stranded bracelet or something like that. They also look fabulous as a base for a pendant.
My basic approach is to sit and play with the colours and stones until the right thing suggests itself. *happy sigh*
Anyway, yes. Commissions taken, LOL. I'm thinking I will have to start selling some of it, anyway, if only to pay for more raw materials... I'll make some up geegaws over the next few weeks and post pictures.

Date: 2008-11-19 04:45 pm (UTC)I've seen a couple of interesting designs for men, mostly in leather and heavy silver, but my design instincts may be a bit poorer. Actually, OMG, men appear to be very badly served.
I have some black leather cord I want to play around with, cos it has a nice texture, and I'm learning how to knot it.
(I have basically turned into the lady from Goodness Gracious Me who could make everything herself at home, with only a smaaaaaall aubergine).
