1. I tidied up little E.'s bedroom this evening, releasing a considerable amount of floor space, and when I went up to read her a story, she'd got out her dolly picnic set and there were a couple of bears, a snow tiger and a little girl doll, all sitting around the dolly picnic looking hungry. We fed them wooden pineapple chunks and tea from a china pot, and then E. put the little girl dolly to bed, brushed her hair and read her a bedtime story.

Tomorrow I may be making the little girl dolly a new bed and an armchair, and also constructing a full-on dolly picnic. Mini ham sandwiches and snack size cookies, I think.

*iz tragic*

Tomorrow I think I will photograph the snow tiger.

2. We are looking after two rats, Molly and Meg, who are 19 times more clever than our gerbils, and a lot less fluffy. P. cleans out their cage every day and they sit above him, poised to leap onto his back and rip his throat out. *shakes off shudder*

3. Bought 'The Chalet School in Exile' from the local second-hand bookshop that specialises in children's books. Yes. I may just go and read that again now.

4. Watched the BBC.co.uk highlights of the Olympics and cried over the British 800m swimmer.

5. Made my mother-in-law watch Enchanted. Egads, it's good. Then, for no particular reason, we sang 'A, you're Adorable' to little E. Who is.

PS I'm a lot more cheerful now I've given up the internet. Ahem. Yay!

I read loads and loads when I was that age, but I loved that particular one. Stands up fairly well - they'e oddly grown up if anyone, with people getting married and having babies all over the place. That and having delicate constitutions.

LOL
yeah

I started out with the ST Claire's books by Blyton but pretty soon progressed to EMBD and The Chalet School - all the stuff about how to be a good woman was still there but it was far less 'girly' - apart from the odd delicate constitution and going to the Alps for your health kinda thing *g*

glad to hear that they still stand up....I may jsut have to hunt down the ones I gave to my daughter - I think she left them here when she moved away from home.

Ahh, little E! *loves*

TC still plays with stuffed animals sometimes, but it's not quite the same in a room that is also plastered with cut-out magazine pictures of pop singers and teen television stars. :(

She doesn't often play with her dolls, but we unearthed the picnic set, in a pink picnic basket, plus her Corolle doll who has long hair, a pleasant expression and smells of vanilla... she's busy planning cookies. *g*

Slightly too intelligent, if you ask me...

PS Did R fill you in on my (rather detailed) response to mentions of Scotland??

*wants mini ham sammiches plz*

*would rather play with E. and her tea party all day than do stupid work*

I've surprised myself by being all soppy over sports stories of toil and hard times. The Olympics make me wussy.
