Possibly the most boring LJ post I will ever write

You will remember that gerbils ate our Dyson?

They nibbled through the flex, right down to the core, when it was parked next to their cage over Christmas.

I discovered this a few weeks later *koff* and immediately stopped using it for fear of electrocution, or the house becoming clean. Something like that. Pointed it out to B, thinking that he would effect some sort of bodged home handyman repair, or at least ring up Dyson and complain that such a sucktastic triumph of engineering should last at least 20 years under warranty. Rodents or no rodents.

Anyway. He went out and bought a brand new one in the January sales.

*time passes*

*more time passes*

I used the new one today.

DUDE. DUUUUUUDE. OMFG YES YES YES YESSSSS *hoovers dust, straw, food, shoes, socks, mould, children, gerbils, Southern England*

*leers nearer the screen with Extending Wand (tm) *

MMMRRRR MRRRRR MRRRR THWOOOOOOOOOOPP...NNNNNGCLANGPTHHHT *hoovers you up and spits you out*

Bwahahaah! You have an icon for the topic - that has to be the most awesome thing about the post!

(BTW, I'm back home.)

'Gerbils Ate My Dyson' sounds like a Frank Zappa wannabe album.

Go you. Can I say that you (temporarily) suck?

He bought a new one?

I mean, at least you'll have a spare now, and perhaps it needed servicing if you're noticing a much better suction, but he couldn't change the plug?

*is confused*

*backs away from Extending Wand*

It was 20 years old; and the damage was a bit more than just changing the plug. Still, I was surprised by the amount of difference.

Even more boring ... which one did he buy?

(I need one which will more efficiently pick up cat hair than my current Dyson)

I'm not sure what it's called. The Dyson Ultimate Dull Cyclone, or something like that. It had some subtle design changes that threw me a bit, but OMG the suction.

My name is Michael and I am addicted to Dysons.

It's not funny, but it's true...

I think we bought the old one about 15 years ago. I was astounded by the difference in performance. If they'd only make it weightless, it would be perfect. I'm not sure how they think you're going to do the stairs.

*squees and claps hands*

Go you!

I have been of two minds re Dysons (which is an achievement with only one functioning neurone). Never could work out if they were actually 'good' vacuums, or just good marketing. My mini handheld has lived up to its hype, but they are very expensive. I HATE my old vac with a passion - it's awkward and hurts my back, and things keep breaking on it.

Your excitement almost convinces me - or maybe you should just send me your old one, because C is good at replacing the flex in appliances. :D

*watches you zoon around and clean happen*

ps. are you actually hoovering us up? aren't you dysoning us up? feel free to spit us out regardless. ;)
