tu doive entendre 'je t'aime'
Jun. 9th, 2008 01:33 amI finally got around to watching Les Chansons d'Amour, recently ordered from Amazon. Such a sweet film. Very melancholy (yet at the same time very light), incredibly French, shot in Paris. It's about a young man, Ismael, a young man with a complicated sort of love life, grieving for his girlfriend. I started watching it for Louis Garrel's dark hypnotic beauty and ended up being utterly captivated by Erwann (Gregoire LePrince-Ringuet). Rather like Ismael himself, mwahahaha. Erwann is brown-haired and steady and confident, and from Brittany rather than Paris. In the song below he sings that he's young and handsome and Breton, and he smells of rain, the ocean, and crepes with lemon. :D Works better in French...
It's a funny little film. The acting is quite trite, in a way, the singing's not always great, but it works beautifully as a romantic film, and the songs are marvellous. This is the last song, so don't watch if you plan to see the film.
'Aime-moi moins, mais aime-moi longtemps.'
