media round-up
May. 19th, 2008 01:20 pmLittle E. scared me half to death last night - she managed to fall backwards off the top of her bunkbed, just as I was forming the words 'SIT DOWNNNN'. There's an 18 inch gap between the bunk and the wall and she fell down it. D: D:
She was pretty much saved by the Style Gods,
ruric and
ravurian who had suggested padding out this space with baskets of dressing up clothes; this meant she 'only' bounced down and scraped her back on the radiator. Owwwwww.
All better now. *mibble*
I went to see Nim's Island with E, P. and a friend and her daughter. Deeply hokey film featuring Abigail Breslin (and Gerard Butler being craggy, and Jodie Foster being...appalling at comedy), but so very much a real kids' film, aka total irony bypass. Anyway I hugged E. and cried into her hair at the end. She did not go to the toilet ONCE despite drinking quite a lot of Fanta. That's how good a film it was.
Friend, on the way out: 'Well, that was total rubbish!'
Me: Sob sniff hic soooooo heartwarming (even if jodie foster is absolute cack in it)
If you have a 7-year old girl, go and see it. Abigail Breslin also has such incredible presence and conviction, for a child actress.
